Low-emissivity (low-E) glass is a special type of glass having a transparent material fused into its surface which acts as a thermal mirror.
Low-E glass is coated with microscipically-thin, transparent layers of silver, in between layers of anti-reflective metal oxide coatings.
Low-E glass offers greater comfort all year round by reflecting harmful ultraviolet rays outside and reflecting roomside heat back into the room. Plus there is less potential for condensation in winter, as compared to windows with non-coated insulating glass. Selectively filtering out harmful ultraviolet rays reduces the potential of fading window treatments, wall coverings, furniture, fabrics and carpeting.
Argon gas is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, non-corrosive and non-flammable gas with a thermal conductivity 30% less than air. Argon gas improves R-values, making windows more energy-efficient.
Many wonderful and imaginative optional features are available to enhance every window. Add brass grids, bevelled glass, custom glass designs and etchings to any glass encasement (limited only to the imagination).
Not only does treated glass help save on heating and cooling bills, but it also protects carpets and furniture from the sun's damaging UV rays, which can cause fading!
